MALUMA CLOSES HIS FIRST-EVER US TOUR WITH A SOLD-OUT CONCERT AT THE MICROSOFT THEATER
On March 26, Colombian music sensation Maluma celebrated the close of his first ever US tour with a sold-out concert at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, where eight thousand euphoric fans remained on their feet throughout the nearly two-hour long show.
He commented, “Thank you Los Angeles – I appreciate all of the love and support – tonight I closed my first US tour and thanks to you and the Latinos in this country, yet another one of my dreams has come true!”
The Latin phenomenon who has taken over Latin America, has now won over audiences across the US with sold out concerts throughout his successful 15-city tour.
Six dancers and a five-piece band, including two background vocalists, accompanied the artist throughout the tour. State-of-the-art audiovisuals complemented the set list, including hits “Sin Contrato”, “El Perdedor”, “Vuelo Hacia el Olvido”, “La Curiosidad”, “La Temperatura”, “Chantaje” (duet with Shakira), “La Bicicleta”, “Carnaval”, “Vente Pa ‘Cá”, “Carnaval,” and others.
At 23, Maluma is Latin music’s youth idol and one of the industry’s most important new voices. Born Juan Luis Londoño, he formulated his artistic moniker Maluma from the first two letters of the names of his mother, father and sister.
In 2015, he released his album “Pretty Boy Dirty Boy” under the Sony Music US Latin label, that debuted at #1. During his 18 months in the U.S. market, Maluma garnered five #1 songs on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart. He is the youngest artist to simultaneously hold both the #1 and #2 spots on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart (with “Sin Contrato” and “Chantaje”) and only the sixth artist to ever achieve this milestone.
